The Lighten Up plan is not a fad diet or a magic bullet – it’s a lifestyle change that encourages you to enjoy delicious, natural, tasty, unprocessed foods that are not only health-giving, they also provide maximum nutrients.

It’s about eating simple, fresh food without any of the added preservatives, colours, flavours, pesticides and heavy metals.

To support your transition to Lighten Up, this plan provides a range of helpful information including:

the importance of eating healthily
nutritional information
the types of foods recommended
the role that exercise plays
handy tips for food preparation
healthy, appetising recipes

Lighten Up has been created to help improve your eating habits and assist with your very own wellness journey.

For your convenience, many of the ingredients found in our Recipes section are available from your local Healthy Life store.

Every person is different and individual results may occur when following the plan. Not everyone will necessarily lose excess weight as there may be, for example, underlying health reasons for weight gain. This is why we recommend that you see your doctor prior to undertaking any major change to your diet or exercise program.

In the Lighten Up plan we provide suggestions for a balanced diet and exercise, and these are general suggestions only. Everybody is different and your personal requirements will vary. Please use your judgment when determining what is right for you. We cannot guarantee that you will lose weight even if you strictly follow the program. If you have any doubts about what is right for you, consult your doctor.

You should drink plenty of water while using the Lighten Up plan.

If your body reacts adversely to any of the food recommendations in the plan, stop using this food immediately and consult your healthcare professional.

You should not use the Lighten Up plan if you are:
Under the age of 18;
Pregnant;
Breastfeeding; or
Suffering from a serious medical condition.

If you are on any prescription medication you must let your doctor know that you intend to participate in the Lighten Up™ plan. Your doctor will need to check whether the dosage of any medication you are on needs to be adjusted. It is particularly important if you suffer from gout, gallstones, diabetes or have recently been treated for a coronary occlusion that your
doctor monitors your progress while you are on the plan. These conditions are not contraindications for participation, but in such cases the program needs to be carried out under supervision of a doctor.
