The Holistic Approach… So What Is An Ideal Body Weight?

While body weight can help determine a healthy weight, there are also many other factors that need to be considered including:

  • age
  • muscle-fat ratio
  • height
  • gender
  • bone density

A standard body weight scale measures total body weight, which incorporates fat, muscle, bone mass, and fluid. However, it doesn’t break these down into percentages to assess changes that take place through exercise, diet and ageing.
